Wow. 10 years is a long time for a butia to survive in Ocean City. I know proximity to the water can be helpful, but growing in sand, exposure to wind, and slower spring warm-ups would probably be tough.
Makes me curious to check on some big ones I know of outside of Tulsa. I haven't been by yet this fall, but I am anxious to see if the business that planted them will watch their investment die this winter...or maybe next.
