A lot of common knowledge about stuff like transplanting comes about from commercial results, that does not mean you can't do it, maybe just not optimal from a commercial perspective. Doing something one thing at a time where you can watch it is all bets are off. I would transplant it if you want since clearly it survived it before and thrived why wouldn't it be fine again?
