Looking at the weather records,the 50's,60's had a few hard freezes. The 70's was worst of all. Then in the 80's..it changed. 1990 was the one last "horticultural reset" What ever had reached some size by then..was ground out.
We've had minor freezes- 1998,2007,and I think 2013. BUT! I tell you George,there is almost a perfect linear line of each new freeze being milder and of shorter duration then the last. Drought,or wet winters. I feel confident that soucal is marching north.
