I have seen these tree's in the past George- and they have pruned much of the banyon roots in order for people to walk by. It used to be like a sheet of roots.
The high that day was 73f..and a breeze with that cool humid air feel. In Hayward it was 94-96f.
I watched the car thermo go up from SF's 73f to 83 as we crossed the bay bridge back to Oakland..and work its way up to 94f to my home.
