Thanks a lot Brad! Yes they are completely hardy here. The banana leaves do usually fry during the winter from what I've seen around town, but they don't have issues fruiting here so hopefully I'll see some fruit from mine.
I'm going to probably struggle keeping it maintained in that space. I have shade plants under it, so it should work for a while. I just want to fresh avocados! I wonder if they'd make a good potted plant up north? The hardy ones could definitely spend some time outdoors during the winter or maybe in an unheated garage.
