This past winter I did for the first time. I used rolls of plastic-covered R19 fiberglass insulation. Only one layer of wrapping was enough to protect them from the 15F winter. I protected my tropical hibiscus in ground to great reward in their second year as well. Unfortunately none of the pineapples I overwintered in ground are blooming. The wet summer may not be to their liking.
