Jim agree that (as you say) judging solely from the pictures it's hard to get a good read on the natural or garden flora. quite frankly apart from the architecture the general landscape looks a bit like western Oregon (the Willamette valley for example) at this time of year. more pictures of more places would no doubt give more information on what is really growing there.
