I always figured around now would be the sweet spot for bananas to fruit up north and have enough leaves to be really healthy, but I guess it takes a while for the bloom to develop in the psudeostem. I've seen bananas fruiting down here with few leaves and they have a ton of fruit so it could surprise you. I imagine it might be hard to keep it propped up though.
Is this your first banana bloom?
I've never had a banana bloom except for my Musa Velutina years ago, but it was tiny!
