Maybe I didn't understand what you were asking....
when nutrients are not available due to cold soil temps
the palm is not growing and sometimes as the spear sits
it the same position, you see cold/fungal damage in one area or
a notch-or a more defined pattern left from the 2 having
contact in the same spot for months.
