Hey Ronnie..I doubt it. I could imagine the chore of protecting so many large needles wouldn't be worth it but I could be wrong and will definitely return in the winter. As to your needles I'm surprised really being in what a z7b on Long Island? Perhaps though the issue where you are is the incessant coastal wind? I know the unprotected needle in Cape May gets beat up pretty much every winter from the wind.
