Two of the most wonderful flower fragrances belong to Magnolia virginiana and Magnolia grandiflora.
My perception is that Grandiflora's scent is very "cool" and refreshing. To stick your nose in a flower on a hot, humid day is to briefly lower the temperature to about 60F for a minute. Just a terrific effect.
Much as I love Grandiflora's "chilling" scent, Virginiana's more "lemony-sweet" scent might be even more enjoyable.
