Tie-Dye Hibiscus flower vs. tea-cup saucer - the flower is the largest

This began blooming yesterday. Pics from today. The flower is slightly larger than the saucer. I measured it. The flowers are flat and unlike the trumpet shape of other varieties I've seen. (I've used these saucers for about 10 yrs but never noticed the design on them until just now):
The problem with tieing back most of the branches like I did this season is that some of the flowers are obstructed and don't fully open. Also note the Japanese Beetle damage on the leaves:
