Count me in on the "show me the thread and I believe" saying. I've been to Bogotá, and it's a rather cool climate overall. There are lots of Ceroxylons there. Yucca elephantipes would do well there--I've seen it in other highland tropical areas--though people do mention the more slender appearance in Bogotá.
