Hey Jim .
I think you'd be warmer than your showing . The northern hemisphere wouldn't have to warm up after a winter because there wouldn't be a winter . Look at an island that's about the same latitude as Wilmington on September 21st and its' weather . That island might be Vila Do Corvo . On September 21st it averages 70F+ and the low is 68F on average on that date . Your latitude is almost exactly the same as Vila do Corvo . Your latitude is 39.74 and Vila do Corvo is 39.67 . Of course the big difference is " big water " around VDC and the continental climate of much of North America .
On the other hand you might have weather like Orlando in January when Orlando is south of any Arctic air around . So you'd be 70'sF during the day and 50'sF at night . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vila_do_Corvo
Ten year lows: 12F,15F,8F,12F,15F,19F,20F,5F,4F(15F 2016)
10 Year Average Lowest Low 12.5F ; 30 Year 12.2F
