in FL, they can't be eliminated. You just push them away to be somebody's else's problem.

The best thing to keep fire ants away is a healthy, maintained lawn. I always have them as I see tiny red ants marching along the pool deck but intake action when I see mounds. Best product ever is Amdro fire ant killer. The next day, mounds are gone. Maybe they moved but they're in somebody else's yard.
