Nice pictures. In my experience, protection almost always does more harm than good. The few times I've tried it for small windmills during the polar vortex, every windmill I protected died. All that I left alone survived. I don't know what it is or if I just don't do it right but it never works for me so I just don't do it. I also like the idea of having palms I don't have to protect unless 1985 comes around again and then even native foliage is at risk.
