Go for it. I bought a half dead one at a nursery in Atlanta years ago and I shaped it until it grew to a three trunked tree about 18' high. Beautiful and very fragrant. They are similar to camellias in that you have to watch for scales. I have one growing here in Brunswick and just bought two additional ones that were heavily discounted that I planted to make a trio. I do spray occasionally (along with my camellias and citrus) for any pests.
