Re: I Love Bougainvillea

Brian, I recall Ian once telling me that he had Purple Queen Bougainvillea in what I seem to recall was an unheated greenhouse in WA. He said it flowered and did surprisingly well.
In Tucson back in 2011 just about all of the city dipped into the upper teens for the first time in a long time. Needless to say almost all of the bougainvillea died back to the ground. Killing some old growth wood on just about every variety in town, Barbara Karst being the preferred Bougainvillea in AZ. Needless to say, Purple Queen Bougainvillea faired the best. At the apartment complex where I lived it was the only one that still retained wood from the previous years.
That being said, Barbara Karst always recovers the fastest.
