AlexNYC is right, I think. If you can't grow Butia, then a Mule is probably not a good bet. I lost a Mule in Augusta, GA a few years ago at 11F (unprotected). The numerous Butias in the same area were untouched except for a little leaf burn on some lower leaves. You might try Butia x Jubaea, but I doubt that you would find them appreciably more cold-hardy than a regular Butia. I have seeds if you want some and are patient. They germinate easily in the summer, but are not quick growers until they get some size on them.
