This one is going to be another monster. It is now 125 mph winds and it has still to cross the expanse of warm Gulf waters. That is where it will get real mean and the projected path of the Hurricane site has it coming right across Dry Creek. I am packing today and to avoid most of the traffic, and to drive up with my brother, I will probably leave tomorrow. Everyone I know is leaving so I will go too. So if I drop out into silence it is because I have gone to my brother's camp in North Arkansas.

: Thanks Matt! I am glad you got some rain.
: CJay did you get any rain? My two sisters
: have already called me to ask "What are
: you gonna do?" Same old routine. My
: first hurricane was in 1957 and many since
: so you would think we are used to these
: things by now, but two Category 5 storms in
: 2005 seems to make people act strangely now!
: The governor of Louisiana is already
: evacuating people! I will go to my
: Brother's camp in Arkansas with him, I am
: sure. That is if I have to. Thanks again
: Matt!

: we got 4 inches of much needed rain, now
: were
: only about 8 inches below our annual
: rainfall... Ernie I got a spare room if you
: plan on running north.

: Whoa! I just checked the Hurricane center
: online and there are five areas of tropical
: activity being watched. Gus is almost
: hurricane strength and one other is probably
: getting a name today; plus one that is
: hatching near the Yucatan Peninsula and
: these are giving me concern. Pepper you and
: I should pack our TOD disks and get ready to
: run. I am glad there was water in Fay so
: you states can stop fighting! Ernie...

: Now they are saying that Hurricane Gustav is
: heading YOUR way! RUN!
: Gustav is supposed to be more powerful than
: Fay was!
:
: At least we in Georgia finally got a little
: bit of drought relief from Fay with all the
: rain.....but still got a few tornados!
: Nothing like Florida though.
:
: Stay safe Ernie!

: there is a positive to all this. Its gonna
: boost the economy when everyone buys
: materials, but whos to say the economy needs
: help, the way gas prices are, I remember
: back when katrina hit, people were
: complaining they couldnt get out of the
: storms way because they couldnt afford gas.
: they knew in advance it was coming, but
: couldnt afford gas to leave town, and of
: course gas station owners know people are
: gonna try to leave. and what do they do?
: jack up the price to make a few bucks over
: somebodies life.

: I've been awol for the past week doing my
: driver instruction classes at Uni &
: working my new job and didnt realize a
: tropical storm was reaping havoc across
: Florida. I always get worried when I hear
: anything about twisters/hurricanes etc... as
: they can be so damn destructful. And because
: I have a lot of friends who I worry might
: get hurt. I just wanna 2nd what the good Doc
: said. Keep your heads down y'all and dont
: let Fay ruin your day. Lets be careful out
: there!

: I was so sorry to hear on the radio a while
: ago, that Florida has had 11 fatalities as
: the result of Fay. The flooding has damaged
: a lot of property as well. The latest
: fatality was an electrical worker responding
: to a power outage call. My thoughts and
: prayers are with Florida today. I care!

: I knew cdlynn was really getting hit hard by
: Fay and then I couldn't remember what part
: of Florida Doc was from....
:
: poor cdlynn is getting schwacked! (if
: that's a word, perhaps snockered)
:
: I'm in the extreme NW part of the FL
: panhandle, right where Fay is expected to
: pass over on Saturday afternoon/evening.
: Fortunately, the winds should be less than
: 39 mph by then, but there will still be a
: good amount of rain. I'm hoping that the
: storm will speed up a bit and just fly thru
: here so we don't get any flooding!
:
: Everyone is so flippant about it, after Ivan
: and Dennis (not to mention prior
: hurricanes), but you just can't be too
: complacent. Fay may not be a hurricane, but
: she's sure doing a number over on the
: Atlantic coast of FL! Eternal vigilence.
: Learned that from Zeke. although he worded
: it differently...
:
: keep your heads down y'all!
