I was on the Battle board and I am constantly amazed at how most posters hold Iron Fist's capabilities in such low regard. A recent thread was comparing Danny to Dick Grayson (Nightwing/ the original Robin). Most posters gave IF the edge, but would consider it a close fight.
I know that during the period Jo Duffy wrote PM/IF, she portrayed Danny as FAR less powerful or effective than any other writer is his history and that it was during this period that IF had more interaction with mainstream Marvel characters... but come on. Both Danny and Davos (with and without Danny's powers) have handled Spiderman with ease. Danny has taken out guys like Hercules and Colossus and dominated Wolverine by skill alone without using the iron fist.
Even before he both learned how to use his powers more effectively and doubled his raw power by adding Orson's to his own, Danny had pulled Class100(+) feats numerous times. Like breaking the Crimson Bands, stopping oncoming trains (he's done that one in the "70's and not just recently), smashed Thunderball's mystic ball (which took an enrage Hulk or Hercules going all out to do)and even destroying a NYC-sized city (Feng Tu) "as if an H-bomb had hit it".
Also prior to his power up, Danny had peak human stats across the board and was far more effective and skilled as a fighter than either Grayson or Batman. He could and has taken out superhumans by physical means (skill) that Nightwing or Batman could ONLY beat by one sided prep and tech. Post power up, between his enhanced physical stats, senses, healing, resistance/immunity to gas, radiation, electricity, ect (the last few he showed pre-power up under Claremont and Byrne), I really would have trouble seeing someone like Nightwing even having anything in his normal arsenal that would even have the potential of putting Danny down. I just don't see ANY "street" level character really being much of a threat to him anymore. If Iron Fist actually decided to fight back at his current levels, I could see him being a legitimate threat to virtually anyone this side of Thanos.
To me, there is a lot more important things to or about a character than who would win a fight or how powerful he/she is, but it really seems like Iron Fist needs a good PR guy or marketing guru to help a bit with his rep.
