: : :
: Got a chance to read the issue this morning
: (that's what happens when you have a 6AM
: alarm, but a cat who wants breakfast at
: 5...), and I enjoyed the issue, as I have
: pretty much every issue of the series. Very
: consistant work on this mag, all around.
What's your cat's name? Felicia? Work it into a future post. Always neat to hear what names family pets are given. Had a dog: Pepper and a cat: Lucky.
: I have no interest in WWH so while I
: wasn't thrilled with HFH being the
: standard-bearer for it, at least the story
: ended up being only tangentially connected
: to the "event" series.
Yeah, it's surprising that the story is holding up quite well with so many issues having a WWH banner slapped on. It's kind of weird to think of 2 aliens forming a arch-nemisis status with H4H.
: Humbug's whole shift of character is a
: little disturbing, but in a good way, a
: dramatic way. Same with Misty's
: confessional session and Shang-Chi's secret,
: which carried the issue in my count.
: Hopefully Shang will stick around for a
: while... I make the same hope for the
: series in general.
Yeah, if Humbug retains much of his powers, he could probably be off a team of punchers. A team that Misty shows regrets of leading, so she might go. And her heavy hitter, Shang-Chi, has taken a vow to 'cut down' on the 'hitting' and it may be better off if he leaves rather than let anyone down (poor Wu too). This makes for very intriguing story 'cuz I want them to find a way to stick around.
: The scenes with Col and
: Moon-Boy made me hope that Devil Dinosaur
: would show up and stomp the heck out of the
: Hulk, but as awesome as that would be it
: seems unlikely.
I'm glad DD didn't show up only because the point of WWH is for Hulk to pawn all opponents. Now, if it's that Devil Dinosaur from Next Wave - THAT's a different story!
: I liked the backup quite a bit. Felt like
: we got two really meaty stories for the
: price of one -- a real bargain when a lot of
: times lately Marvel has given us less than a
: whole story for the price of one.
: Anyway, another solid installment, and I am
: eager to see how the HFH will get out of
: this mess.
Mmmm... meaty. Can't wait for the next course either!

: Beautiful cover! Wonder if the pic will be
: all it was stacked up to be? Was
: anticipating a bit of an inside surprise
: and/or bonus in regards to the art. Nada.
: Still solid and consistent, as last issue
: was, but was hoping for a little bit of a
: wow-factor. The facial expressions were
: good. And drawing aliens is harder to do
: badly compared to recognizable humans. The
: far away shots and alien (non)background
: added perspective though at the cost of less
: aesthetic details. The 'toturous' *rhe*
: hosing down may've been more menacing with
: tighter shots :-p ...
: HUMBUG: is still very intriguing. His wild
: card factor shows here with the shocking
: decisions and hidden thought processes he's
: going thru. His crush on Colleen had a bit
: of antsy(pun intended) factor in the past
: but now his rebound with the Brood Queen is
: downright creepy.
: SHANG CHI: is so cool.. He killed in
: combat... frequently?? I did not know that!
: His whole confession, atonement and recent
: history makes him NOW a hero worthy to
: aspire to act like. His recent slip ups is
: what classic Marvel drama is all about.
: Looking forward to seeing if he stays true.
: TARANTULA: is basically just a sounding
: board this time. She's had a wild card
: factor in the beginning but seems the most
: expendable. And if you don't believe me just
: ask Buck.
: KNIGHT: is given a nice prison cell scene.
: Her self recrimination is justified and so
: true. A team of punchers - HA! Good one.
: Still, can't help but feel sorry for her.
: WING: is still looking too much like Dagger
: for my tastes. And playing too much of the
: dumb blonde. Why is she so attached to Moon
: Boy? Why did she never spare Humbug his
: pain? Why did she make that crazy selfless
: act at the end if she didn't want it to
: work? Duh.
: BLACK CAT: is basically just a sounding
: board this time. She does seem to get the
: most sexy poses of the quartet for what it's
: WARBOUND: are getting more character
: attention than the other crossover titles.
: Especially Miek and Brood Queen and their
: independent evil plots. Even though we'll
: probably never see any of 'em again after
: WWH, their story is building and revolves
: totally around Humbug which makes it
: BACKUP: The first was real good but liked
: the backup possibly more. The stand off.
: Scorpion's origin details. Paladin's
: motivations. Agents Nagayoshi and Anya.
: Carmilla's tough choice. Tbolts continuity.
: The devised Hulk solution. The eyeballs. Of
: monsters and men. ALL IN ONLY 7 PAGES!

: ... and the world did not, in fact, explode.
: I guess the Internets has moved on to other
: comic books to be outraged at and have
: forgotten about little ole HFH .
: I took one look at the cover yesterday and
: laughed my butt off. The idea of the HFH
: girls being all a-skarit of some big alien
: tentacle-beastie was too funny. Didn't get
: a chance to read it as I was working all
: night, but I am looking forward to checking
: it out tonight.
