"Prince Of The Poverty Line"
: Well, of course I picked up "Heroes For
: Hire" #2 yesterday, and once again I
: was summarily impressed with it.
: We get to spend more time with some more of
: the cast this time, including Colleen,
: Palladin, and Shang-Chi, and the story
: really moves at a good pace. Misty's
: conversation with Iron Man was great. I
: really liked the way those two interacted,
: as well as Colleen and Humbug, and Misty and
: Colleen's reactions to Luke.
: Speaking of Cage, he really is written very
: well here. We see his loyalty to Cap, his
: cynical attitude ("Im bad ideas, this
: one just shot to the top ten"), and we
: also start to learn a little more about the
: reason he went Anti-Reg -- much more, I
: might add then Bendis managed to give us in
: that awful issue of "New
: The cliffhanger with Palladin selling out
: his team was shocking but so in character
: for him! He even foreshadows it, looking
: back! Although I wonder where Orka was -- I
: guess they didn't need muscle for this gig.
: About the only complaint I have about this
: team is that I don't really see what Black
: Cat offers, or why she is on the team. If
: it was pared down to Misty, Colleen, Humbug,
: Shang-Chi, Tarantula, and Orka, I'd be cool
: with that. I doubt Palladin will be working
: with the team any time soon!
: I am very happy with this book and am
: finding it to be the best team book I am
: reading right now -- far ahead of both
: "New Avengers" and the relaunch of
: "Justice League of America," and
: maybe a hair in front of "New
: Excalibur." The mix of quirky
: characters, solid writing and art, and good
: action makes this book a winner all around.
