I think the only person with the "true" physique to play Luke Cage is Carolina Panthers DE Julius Peppers, who is 6'6", an All-Pro DE, and with enough athleticism to start for UNC on the basketball team. But a film is not just about matching the looks -- there has to be something there in the acting department, too. Tyrese may not be Oscar-caliber, but in the films I have seen him in, I think he has the necessary chops to pull of Luke Cage -- especially when you consider that the Cage of this film will need to be at his most mercantile and unapproachably hostile. I think part of Luke's charm is that he is not as big as the Hulk. He's a big dude, but he's in the class that if you saw him on the street you'd say "That's one big dude" and not "Holy crap, look at that freak!" I don't think you need a costume at all... if you want to have him wear a yellow shirt with his street clothes, that's fine. I would say jeans/cargo pants, a yellow shirt and some big black boots to complete the ensemble. Tyrese is a pretty big guy; sometimes its not feasible to find someone who is a perfect physical specimin-match and still be able to recite his lines with any sort of competence. I for one would not mind that casting. Didn't his yellow shirt costume pop up again in the "Marvel Knights" team book? And he did "wear" it sorta on the cover of "Heroes for Hire" #1, even if inside he wore the white shirt.

: I don't think Marvel MAXn so much as the 90s
: series, tight t-shirt, leather jacket and
: jeans. Make him as huge as he's supposed to
: be 6'6" and as wide as 3 people, he'll
: be unmistabable. ![]()
: The exact look of a comic book costume has
: yet to make it to the screen and work.
: Chris Reeve was not so far from making the
: costume look right, but from the neck down,
: as far as I'm concerned, one had to suspend
: disbelieve.
: So get the right physical type for the
: character and find a way around the costume
: that doesn't betray the spirit.
: Luke stopped wearing the yellow shirt 16
: years ago. The first comic book cover of
: the 90s series showed him ripping it to
