I have been trying to find information about my 4th great-grandfather and have spent quite a bit of time going through the various sections of the Guysborough County website, including all the cemetery records. His name was William Fraser and he received a Land Grant in the late 1780s as a result of his participation on the Loyalist/British side of the American Revolution - he is on the Guysborough Grantees List. I have found record of his death, but not burial, in the Christ Church Burials section - 9 Jul 1788 by drowning at age 28 - therefore he probably was born in 1760. But I have virtually no other information about his origins. For example, I do not know if he was born in the American Colonies or in Britain. Family lore has it that his parents' names were Alexander and Isabel, but that is the extent of my knowledge. I have gone through the AC Jost book very carefully and therefore am aware of his wife, children and their marriages. And of course I am able to trace through the generations to myself. Would appreciate any suggestions as to where I may be able to search further? For example, do the Land Grant records have any detail about the recipient, where are they located, and can they be accessed? Would there be any additional detail with the Church records, and where are they now located? Thanks in advance. Jack Freeman
