From Prince Christian's 18th birthday in Copenhagen there were photos of his grandmother, mother, aunts, and godmothers wearing tiaras. Also, the contemporaries of Christian from The Netherlands, Belgium , Norway & Sweden. I don't know if the Princess of the Asturias was invited. Many family members were not invited. For example, Princess Alexia was in Copenhagen but not invited; neither any aristocrats or officialdom. The majority of guests were 18 year old Danish young people chosen from all parts of the kingdom.
There is another very important reason, in addition to the current King and Queen's dislike of mixing with European royalty in grandiose pomps, and that is that Spanish society and public opinion would not welcome a lavish party in El Pardo full of tiaras and haute couture gowns for a coming-of-age celebration. And the Royal House knows this very well. R.
Manuel - I was intrigued by your comment that a celebration for the princess would be unthinkable. I recall that the weddings for the infantas & the then Prince of Asturias were quite upscale - is the Spanish RF now quite disinclined to engage any similar public displays in view of the later rocky periods that the family has experienced?

S omthing similiar to Denmark? Unthinkable in Spain.
