Given that the count’s first cousin once removed is Dom Pedro Carlos, titular head of the Petrópolis branch of the family, I was curious to know if the Vassouras line is now regarded as the more legitimate (for lack of a better word) heirs to the imperial throne? Certainly the President of Brazil thinks so, but I suspect that is more political from his perspective.
Have other Petrópolis branch descendants recognized the Vassouras branch at the head of the family/titular emperor?
RIP
It was reported on Nobiliana that he passed away today (15 July) in São Paulo.
The undisputed head of the brazilian IF, after the death of his cousin D.Pedro Gastão, and the lack of interest of the latter's descendants, received the last sacraments on July the 8th.
The Prince has been interned for about one month in a hospital in São Paulo and his condition is considered hopeless.
Prayers have been asked for his soul.
Last communiqué from the site Pro-Monarquia dates from yesterday, July 11th, and says the Prince is just receiving palliative care.

Apparently, there are no communiqués from the IF.
