The coat of arms presently shown at the top of the message board was used only during 1830–1 during the reign of Louis-Philippe, who usurped the throne. In shows the differenced arms of France, that of the Orléans branch, with a label argent but with the external components particular to the kingship.
In 1831, he changed his arms to show the constitutional charter of 1830.
At the time, no pretence was made to the undifferenced arms of France , although the head of the Orléans branch of the House of Bourbon certainly pretends to them now in opposition to Prince Louis (XX) Alphonse, Duke of Anjou, eldest of the Capetians. I am not sure when they definitively started making use of the plain arms, perhaps after the death of Henry (V), Count of Chambord.
