I guess it was the 1st time a french president met a pretendant to the throne for many years.
Having said that, I believe the Napoleon family (realisticly) has no interest on an eventual imperial restoration and, as Guy well put it, J-C just cares about represnting the family and its legacy, discretly and in a dignifying way, staying out of the race between Orléans and Bourbons.
