The PRF is a rather low key family but the Duke and Duchess often appear in several social events.
Both of them are regular presences in charity events as well as in cultural ones.
The Duchess of Bragança takes part every year in the Lisbon Rastrillo.

The Dukes are often invited for interviews in TV, newspapers and magazines but avoid the tabloids.
In 2006, the Portuguese Foreign Office took part in the monarchic issue (there a few supporters of the Duke of Loulé as pretendant to the throne), sponsoring and supporting D.Duarte Pio as the legitimate heir to the throne.
The Legal Department of the F.O. sustained such appreciation due to the "historic recognition and tradition of the Portuguese People, the consuetudinary rules of the dynastic succession and the recognition of D.Duarte by all other european and extra-european royal houses, with whom the House of Bragança maintain family ties".
Due to this recognition, the Portuguese Republic granted D.Duarte political, historical and diplomatic representation and have asked him to represent the Portuguese People in cultural, humanitarian or religious events abroad and benefit of diplomatic passport on such occasions.

AFAIK, neither the Prince of Beira nor his siblings ever gave any interviews to the media, appearing in the events alone or with their parents.
Every year The family attends the Plotters' Dinner, the event that marks the independence of Portugal from Spain after the Philipin period (1580-1640) that allowed the accession of the Duke of Bragança to the throne.
This year, for the first time, the message was read by the Prince of Beira.
The Royal Couple usually is invited when foreign royals officially visit Portugal and attend the official galas.
And, of course, they attend family and friends events that deserve media attention.
How high a profile does the RF have in Portugal,.I.e., are they featured in tabloids? Are they seen at the opera, ballet, etc.?
Casa da Infanta, in Algarve, apparently is still owned by the RF and can be rented.
Great location, just over the beach.

They own several homes, neither of them directly related to the RF.
The family owns a Quinta in Santar in the Viseu district, appropriately named Casa das Fidalgas.
The house is mainly inhabited by D.Duarte's brother, Infante D.Miguel, duke of Viseu.

On the aftermath of the 1974 revolution, a friend of the family who left to exile in Brazil, offered his Sintra residence to the Duke of Bragança, at a bargain price and that's the family main residence.
An old interview with several photos.

When PM Salazar decided the revocation of the Banning Law and allowed the PRF to return, he found out that the family had scarce means.
Not at all strange since, after the death of King D.Manuel II in 1932 the PM "nationalized" the estates of the RF in the Foundation Casa de Bragança and the family could not touch a dime, despite the protests of D.Duarte Nuno, father of the present Duke of Bragança.
Not wanting to compromise the portuguese state with the RF, Salazar convinced Queen D.Amélia to name D.Duarte Pio (her godson) as his heir and the Queen left him several buildings she privately owned in Lisbon, in uptown Chiado on the grounds of the former Bragança palace destroyed at the 1755 earthquake .
For practical reasons, the family organized an appartment in Chiado, again appropriately at Duques de Bragança street, easier for their activities and for the children to go to university.

Until recently the Duke of Bragança had a large summer villa in Ferragudo, Algarve, a house he inherited from his aunt Infanta D.Filipa.
There were rumours that the house had been sold, but a couple of years ago, the family entertained the King and Queen of Belgium and their children as well as ADk Joseph (Habsburg-Palatine) and family.
Some very ancient photos

Do they have an ancestral home or do they live in an ordinary type house/villa?
