I agree it wasn't a speech but a reading. For comparison the Duchess of Brabant gave her first speech at 9 years old and at 14 she was giving speeches in 3 different languages.
We have yet to hear from the Princess of Oranje
She read the first article of the Spanish constitution. I am not sure whether it can be considered a speech.
Anyway, very well done. He reads much better than her father.
She forgot to curtsey to the King. Maybe she is still very young.
BBC Article:
" Spain's Princess Leonor, the heir apparent to the throne, turned 13 on Wednesday. At an event celebrating another birthday - the 40th anniversary of Spain's constitution - she gave her first royal speech."
One factual error about the report: Infanta Leonor is heiress PRESUMPTIVE, not heiress apparent, to the Spanish throne. Although first in the line of succession, she's subject to displacement by the birth of an hypothetical brother -- although such a thing is a highly unlikely event, at this point.
So assuming that the monarchy survives in Spain, she likely will eventually become queen regnant. In this, her position is no different from other heiresses who succeeded because they had no brothers (e.g. Queen Elizabeth II of England, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark).
