The title of Duke of Cadiz was created as hereditary in 1972, but recreated as a life title in 1987. Not clear if is was a legal movement, but Luis Alfonso has never challenged that decision. The Duke of Cadiz did, with a notarial document giving his opinion that the 1987 decree did not apply to the title and the style of Royal Highness to his son, but LA has never legally challenged it.
Thanks - but King Felipe could confer a hereditary title if he chose to do so, right? I appreciate that would be unlikely in this scenario.
