In this age of camera phones and the fact that there are so many people for whom privacy and personal dignity is a cheap commodity (for instance, Marie Chantal and her Instagram children), I'm afraid that there is little respect for people who really DO value their privacy. As we know Queen Letizia and King Felipe do. I'm just surprised that this type of public invasion hasn't happened more across all of the monarchies.
I honestly have genuine sympathy for all of them in this situation. Although I have nothing nice to say about Marie Chantal and her exploitative behavior, not that she cares.

: And you are someone who is regularly spending
: time with the Spanish Royals so you noticed
: all these things first hand? Or are you a
: close confident of Queen Sofia who told you
: all about her wicked daughter-in-law?
:
: Im guessing you are not and it is not
: showing any sign of decent behaviour to
: condemn someone without being aware of all
: the information.
:
: Again we have this one very unpleasant
: incident but at the same time we have dozens
: if not hundreds of events where Sofia and
: Letizia get on very well and are supportive
: and complimentary of each other.
: Felipe only became king because Sofia's
: husband and son-in-law caused the
: institution of the monarchy so much bad
: press that Juan Carlos realised he could not
: see it survive without him abdicating.
:
: Since Felipe with the support of his wife
: and parents has managed to turn things
: around. Not that they are out of the woods
: yet.
:
: Sofia is supposed to have sacrificed her
: personal happiness for the survival of the
: Spanish monarchy. Why would a
: daughter-in-law who helps her son achieve a
: goal she has dedicated her life to be such a
: bad thing?
: Im in no way suggesting Sofia and Letizia
: are close. They are two women not only from
: different generations but also from
: different back ground and with a different
: outlook on life. So it would be surprising
: if they were extremely close.
:
: They do however both love Felipe, Leonor and
: Sofia. They also want the best for the
: Spanish monarchy and have until this
: incident always shown great respect and
: admiration for each other. So we do need to
: put it into that context.

: I totally agree with you. What I have
: observed
: over the years, is that Letizia was nice and
: sweet until she a) married Felipe and b)
: became queen and took precedence over her
: mother-in-law. The shenanigans about not
: allowing the grandparents to see the kids,
: etc. began after she secured her position.
: Whatever protocol says, yes, I would agree
: with the BBC's assessment and
: Marie-Chantal's intervention. At least, now
: that people have taken notice of Letizia's
: rudeness, she may rethink her position and
: choices. We should always call bad behavior.
