After reading the RD, I suppose Irene, even not being recognised as Princess (in Spain there is only one Prince/ss, ie, the heir to the throne), is entitled to use as be adressed as Her Royal Highness.
And maybe that is why she was seated with Royal Highness in the firt row at El Escorial this week. But, in the Spanish RD of precedence, only Infantes of Spain have the right to rank and honours, not mere HRH.
