: BTW, one of Queen VE descendants, Alessandro
: Lequio, grandson of Infanta Beatriz, has
: recently found out that he has a mild form
: of haemophilia. So, it seems Infanta Beatriz
: inherited the gene.
: Given the fact that haemophilia is only
: transmitted by women, the disease-line stops
: with him.
Unless he marries a woman who is also a carrier. Then children of both sexes can inherit the disease.
: But I wonder wether it's known if his sister
: Désirée also suffers from the condition and
: if she passed it (hopefully not) to her
Even if none of her children inherit the condition it can never be known for sure if she is a potential carrier until she is tested to see if she carries the faulty 'x' chromosome. No-one would ever have known Queen Victoria was a carrier if she had not given birth to her 4th son, Leopold and if her daughters Alice and Beatrice had not had children of their own.
