Did the Duchess oppose the annulment? I thought I read somewhere that the C of P said he had met with her, and that she accepted the idea of an annulment. Could this have been wishful thinking (or deliberate deception) on his part? If the Duchess did oppose the annulment, and the Vatican went against her wishes and testimony, I find that very surprising. I consider myself a pretty devout Catholic, but I can understand Prince Jean's reaction. The Duchess of Wurttemburg has written that her brother was very much in love with his bride at the time of the wedding. I agree with the commenter who said "how do you get tricked into having five children?" And I'm not impressed by the fact that the Count left his wife to care for two severaly handicapped children.

: I guess the son is angree with the father

: Prince Jean's objections against his

:
: First of all the second marriage has no any
: dynastical consequence since it will not
: bear any fruit, we may assume.
:
: Secondly the Prince is not in a position to

:
: The Prince simply had to shut up and await
