It was vintage Jimmy Goldsmith, a very intelligent, charming and witty man - and said after his second divorce and third marriage; the last in line, however, never made it off the mistress' chaise longue (and there were dozens of intermediary peccadillos with hopefuls.
There are few more odious self-indulgent bores than EA of Hannover and it was always hard to understand what Pss C saw in him (she did not need his money) - but then the latter-day (Polignac) Grimaldi's strange heritage may have contributed to their poor choice, or non-choice of spouses.
