It is the parade of the day of the armed forces. It takes place every year, on May 30th, day of St. Ferdinand (King Fernando III of Castile), patron of the Armed Forces and the Royal House (remember about the throne of St. Ferdinand). The parade is usually moved to the Sunday after May 30th.

: While zapping channels I stumbled on TVE
: Internacional and saw a military parade in
: Zaragoza, with the King, the Queen, the
: Prince and Princess of Asturias attending.
:
: I was impressed by the grandeur or the
: event, but indeed even on such a formal
: occasion there was a remarkable informality
: between The King and the VIPs around
: (kissing, babbling, chatting).
:
: Even the so jovial King Albert II of the
: Belgians still remains The King, during the
: military parade in Brussels. I have never
: seen him kissing ministers of female
: officials. I'm still not used to it.
:
: I liked the mise-en-scène of the Spanish
: parade: red velvet, arms, royal standard, a
: special royal loge, beautifully uniformed
: military in the parade.
