The Benelux nobility systems did not allow inheritance via the female lineage.

The Nassau dynasty had salic law for the historic Nassau patrimonium. In the Netherlands however succession was male-preferred.

So were the rules. And yes. I hope I will not be hanged for it: I would like to have seen a Prince Willem V (brother to Amalia, Alexia and Ariane) to succeed the throne.

Sverre Magnus, Carl Philip, Gabriel are the first victims of the changed succession laws.
