My vision is that, 10 years from now, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department will be made up primarily of reserve officers who don't require benefits. I want Jackson County to be kind of – the go-to agency – for all former law enforcement officers in the county.
That is one of the ways that I plan to improve the morale and quality of life of the Sheriff’s Deputies without spending much money.
The best way to provide better law enforcement is to increase the use of reserve deputies, volunteer help and retired officials from other agencies. As a Kansas City Police reserve officer for 24 years, I know that these part-time employees can do jobs such as Courthouse security and serving warrants, so both of our remaining full-time deputies can be in the DARE unit fighting crime.
Two other important personnel and management issues: We need additional staff in Communications, and we need to make the Investigative unit part time. I spent 24 years as a Reserve and now I am running for Sheriff. How's that for an example?
The Sheriff needs an office at the County Courthouse Downtown. I was scouting out the perfect place last week at 0300 hrs, which just happened to be filing day for the position of Sheriff.
Thanks for the support!!

Have you hugged your bondsman today?
