Thyra was in love with Marcher.
Different story from naive Maria of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who was seduced by a palace equerry by whom she also had a daughter who was given for adoption (seems the practical attitude at the time), an equerry that later tried to blackmail the GDfamily.
Marie also got away with the (double) scandal.
First the illegitimate daughter, then a marriage and quick divorce to a despicable count (who, in the process, would kill her brother in a duel fight), had children with that count, and ended up marrying a Prince zur Lippe with whom she founded another family and lived happily ever after (?).
When was the story of Thyra having a child in 1871 first published and by whom?
Wikipedia (!!!) lists as its source: Bramsen, Bo. Huset Glücksborg i 150 år, 1825 6. juli-1975. Copenhagen: Forum, 1975.
Was this story published before 1975?
How about documentary evidence? Is there a letter from an aunt saying, "Thyra's been sent to Greece until the time comes. The man has been shot, but we told the neighbours he tripped and fell."
A source can, of course, be inaccurate - but at least it verifies that the account was in circulation by a certain time.
