Yes, the Queen confirmed the name of Windsor would continue after her accession in 1952.
Wouldn't it have been very strange if the Queen had decided to change the name of the Royal House in 1952? Did Queen Victoria change the name of the Royal House in 1840?
Well, there was no need to change the name of the Royal House in 1952 as Elizabeth II was the lawful heiress of the House of Windsor just as Victoria was the lawful heiress of the House of Hanover. However when Victoria's son succeeded as Edward VII the House name changed to Saxe Coburg & Gotha (after his father) and remained as such until George V changed it in 1917 to the name it is known by today. The question is whether the House name will change when the future Charles III succeeds, just as it did for Edward VII, or will remain Windsor.
