Falling safely into the latter category is the self-styled "Michael II of Romania," who claims to be the long-lost fraternal twin brother of Princess Margareta! His FB profile is here:
He also maintains a website advertising his claims to the succession here:
What is so unique about this particular claimant is his contention that Michael I ceased to be King when he signed his coerced [and constitutionally invalid] statement of abdication in 1947, and that therefore he, "Michael II" is now legally the King. This claim is all the more astonishing because even if we take him at his word that he is Margareta's long-lost twin, this would place his date of birth in March 1949: over a year after King Michael's abdication supposedly made him King! Interestingly, he claims that he still refers to the former King with his title "out of respect," yet further down he refers to his "father" as the "false king!"
This person's wildly concocted narrative is transparently ridiculous, but it is a surely a symptom of the doldrums that the Romanian monarchist cause has fallen into thanks to a murky succession and intra-family squabbles.
