The Saxony situation is the same as with Romania and other vanished monarchies: the formal succession rules are viewed frozen in the past, while those of surviving monarchies have moved with the times as societies evolve. Bad enough being being heir to a hollow and empty title; it must be downright embarrassing to be actually squabbling over one.
