But if it is to be fair to the subject, it should ignore the strongly pro-Nazi activities of the Hesse brothers, the hereditary grand duke of Oldenburg and the prince of Waldeck, for example. They saw no contradiction, it seems, in beign staunch nazis and royal princes. An historicla whitewash does no one any good and actually serves to diminish the bravery of thsoe who opposed the nazis (who also included several members of the Bavarian royal house).
