When Empress Zita of Austria her funeral was given sanction by the Government and many politicians, state officials and international representatives,
along with a representative of the pope.
While technically not a state occasion it is close.
Was the ceremonial burial of the remains of Czar Nicholas II and his family a state funeral or a state occasion?

: A question a propos of nothing but curiosity.
: Reigning monarchs as heads of state get
: state funerals in virtually every monarchy
: as a matter of course. Are there examples
: or established protocols from recent times
: (say, post-World War II) of state funerals
: in any European monarchy:
:
: 1. Former monarchs who have abdicated
: 2. Consorts of reigning monarchs
: 3. Widow(er)s of reigning monarchs
: 4. Heirs apparent to reigning monarchs
: (Can't think of a recent example of this.
: Prince Gustav Adolf was of course heir
: apparent to the heir apparent, but that's
: not quite the same. But does anyone have a
: standard protocol about this?)
: 5. Any other royal personage
:
: Thanks!
