What a most interesting find! Thanks for this and sharing your wonderful pictures!
Indeed, heard the most intriguing stories that Sigvard went to see her many decades ago while on a trip to Berlin and this on request of his third wife Marianne. Don't know if they actually met then. And then they lost contact and suddenly when Sigvard died, his widow Marianne received a condolence card from his first wife Erica. A story told by Roger.
In one of the first old magazines I received as a youngster from my grandmother, a magazine she bought when Queen Astrid of the Belgians died tragically in that car accident in 1935, there are other royal love stories, besides Leopold & Astrid of Belgium, Umberto & Marie-José of Italy, Frederik & Ingrid of Denmark, George Duke of Kent & Marina of Greece, and yes, also Prince Sigvard of Sweden & Erica Patzek.
The article on the couple is not very interesting as some major mistakes are in it, like Sigvard seeking permission by his father the King (it must be his grandfather) marrying after his sister (but he married in the previous year 1934) and the name of his wife is spelled 'Matsek'.
King Gustaf asked his son he didn't known a princess with the name 'Matsek', after which the King asks his son he doesn't recall a duchess or countess with that name.
