Opps, I didn't finish my sentence. I see the titles for the German Emperors written as Emperors of Germany and hardly ever see the correct usage of the proper title. I remember reading that Bismark thought the squabble over the correct title was being petty but the German princes and kings (mostly Bavaria) wanted to stress that they didn't want to be merely vasals of Prussia and that they retained autonomy which the title German Emperor reflected.

: Being correct on titles and their usage is a
: big interest in my passion for studying
: royalty. I often do see the title for the
: German Emperors written in many sources. (I
: do not fault Karen for not correcting that
: error)
:
: Another mistake concerning titles is when
: the Habsburg Holy Roman Emperors are called
: Emperors of Austria prior to 1804. Some get
: away with calling them Austrian Emperors
: which is technically true, they are Emperors
: from Austria ,just not of Austria.

: König von Preussen.
:
: It seems to be a petty difference, but there
: is much behind it.
