: There was the marriage of Archduke Karl with
: Princess Zitta of Bourbon-Parma.
Ah, but not the heir apparent to the heir apparent. Doesn't count in this very trivial quest on which I have embarked us.
: The marriages of the Duke of Burgundy to
: Marie-Adelaide of Savoy and of the Duke de
: Berry to archduchess Marie-Antoinette in
: France.
The first one counts, but wasn't Marie Antoinette's groom already the dauphin, his father having died before the future king's marriage?
: In 1777 the oldest son of the heiress to
: king Joseph I, Joseph Prince of Beira
: married.
: The grandson of the King married infanta
: Benedita, the youngest daughter of the king
: and sister of his mother. The father of the
: groom was the king's brother and
: uncle/brother-in-law of the bride.
Again, not an heir apparent to the heir apparent, but rather to the heiress presumptive. The "Prince William" situation really does seem to be a very rare occurrence.
