: but the rulership of Modena (rule, as
: opposed to use of names) becomes real and
: not purported, only if they really get to
: reign over Modena.
:
: That, however, is equally true of the
: claimants t Austria, Russia, Prussia,
: Bavaria, Italy, the Two Sicilies, Parma,
: Tuscany, France, etc etc.....

true, in a sense - but not what I mean.
the claimant of Austria is direct agnatic heir and descendant of ones who ruled over Austria. Contrary to the newer house of 'Modena'...
the claimant of Russia is direct agnatic descendant of ones who ruled over Russia.
the claimant of Prussia is direct agnatic heir and descendant of ones who ruled over Prussia.
the claimant of Bavaria is direct agnatic heir and descendant of ones who ruled over Bavaria.
the claimants of Italy are direct agnatic descendants of at least one who ruled over Italy.
the claimants of Sicilies are direct agnatic descendants of ones who ruled over the two sic.
the claimant of Parma is direct agnatic heir and descendant of ones who ruled over Parma.
the claimant of Tuscany is direct agnatic heir and descendant of ones who ruled over Tuscany.
the claimants of royal throne of France/ the french (how I hate those people's monarchies... they are worse than people's democracies, occasionally) are direct agnatic descendants of ones who ruled over France
the claimants of imperial France are not direct agnatic descendants of any emperor of the french, but anyways they just use their ancestral uncle's baptismal name as surname, they do not call themselves as 'House of France'
So, it's this 'House' business: not me but authorities in our past, have more or less defined that a House is an agnatic structure. And I happen to value direct descent over most other things. So, a lineage which has not the direct descent, is a new house to me.
